Will Agent Carter's Trip to Russia Uncover the KGB's "Red Room"?

Fans who tuned in to last night's episode of Agent Carter were treated to a couple of shocking reveals and it's possible that next week's episode may drop another big one and make a connection to one of the core Avengers!

Spoilers from last night's episode follow, so if you haven't seen it yet, proceed with caution.

Below, there be SPOILERS!

UPDATE: Agent Carter showrunner, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, in an interview with IGN, have confirmed that Dottie is indeed from the Black Widow Ops program and that Agent Carter will take us to either the Red Room or something similar next week.

In the closing moments of last night's episode, we found out that Peggy's new neighbor, Dottie Underwood, had a little bit of fight in her as she parkoured off some walls and broke the neck of Peggy's would-be-assassin. It's pretty clear that Dottie is a sleeper agent of some kind (it was kind of obvious from her intro that SOMETHING was up), though it's tough to determine exactly who she is and for whom she is working. After watching her moves, my first thoughts were that she had been trained in the Russia's "Black Widow Ops" program, or the Red Room, the same program that produced THE Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff.

The Russian KGB used the Black Widow Ops program to brainwash Soviet orphan girls, training them as combat-ready spys for the Cold War. In addition to being bioengineered to live longer, each member of the program was given a host of false memories and had little to no recollection of who they actually were. Natasha Romanoff, for instance, believed that she had once been a ballerina, though she had actually been in the program from a very young age.

And so when Dottie went Jackie Chan on the assassin, I thought, "Cool! There's another 'Black Widow' on the show." And then the promo for next week (embedded below) played, and I was very pleased!

It seems that next week, Peggy is headed to Russia with the Howling Commandos and it looks as if it might be possible that they stumble into a little nest of orphaned Russian girls complete with lethal skill sets. I did some digging and found a few stills from the episode over at Comicbook.com which give us a little closer look at what I'm thinking could be a location from the KGB's Red Room program.

So, a nest of orphan girls, apparently learning in an American-style classroom with lethal enough skills to take out one of the Howling Commandos and stab Dum-Dum Dugan in the chest? I'm not sure, but I think we might just be getting a look at the program that produced the Avengers' Black Widow. It certainly would tie in nicely with those ballerina scenes that have been teased in the trailers for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
