Michelle MacLaren Hired by WB to Develop and Direct Wonder Woman
Director Michelle MacLaren, who has been involved as a producer and director on AMC's upcoming Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels and The X-Files, has signed with Warner Bros. to help develop and direct 2017's Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot.
Earlier this week The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. had made a move forward in the development of their upcoming Wonder Woman film by hiring Michelle MacLaren to direct under the watchful eye of producer and DCCU godfather, Zack Snyder.
MacLaren, while maybe not a household name, certainly has some serious credentials behind her given her work on some of TV's best series over the past decade. On it's surface, it seems like a solid move for Warner Bros. to get someone with such a vast array of experiences in on this film. I'd imagine her work on Game of Thrones and the period piece drama Hell on Wheels, may most directly relate to a Wonder Woman film, rumored to be a prequel set in the 1920s. Of course, as with all films, the proof will be in the pudding and it won't be until June 23, 2017 that we get to judge for ourselves.
Wonder Woman will be 4th film in DC's shared Cinematic Universe following Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice (March 25, 2016) and David Ayer's Suicide Squad (begins production next spring ahead of an August 5, 2016 release).
