After the jump, check out the promo for next week's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
While the official release for next week's episode tells us the focus will be on Donnie Gill (Blizzard), a returning character from Season 1, the promo reveals something much more intriguing: the location of Simmons!
I'm interested to see if this episode, which seems to be about recruiting new members for both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D., might be the episode in which Robbie Baldwin is referenced or introduced, as mentioned by the folks at Oh No They Didn't. Actor Fran Kranz, a frequent collaborator of Joss Whedon (including a memorable turn as Marty, the stoner, in Cabin in the Woods), tweeted the following before quickly deleting it:
The tweet mentions Mockingbird, who is scheduled to make her appearance in the season's 5th episode, so perhaps we'll see Robbie then too.
For those of you who don't know, Speedball is a founding member of The New Warriors, a one-time member of the Thunderbolts and a teacher at Avengers Academy. With Season 2 clearly bringing more "Gifteds" to the forefront, it's not a stretch to think that a character like Robbie Baldwin, whose ability to manipulate the physics of kinetic energy resulted from his exposure to unknown extra-dimensional energies in a lab experiment gone wrong, might show up.
Speedball is one of the more interesting characters to be introduced to the Marvel lineup in the late 80s. His New Warriors team was, at least in-part, responsible for the spark that ignited Marvel's Civil War and he's taken a number of intriguing roads since. It'll be interesting to see if this comes to fruition and what plans, if any Marvel has for Speedball and the rest of The New Warriors.
