Marvel Adds Yet ANOTHER Date to Its Ever-Expanding Slate

Just last week Marvel added 5 dates stretching their MCU into 2019. Today, they've added another date and it's timing calls quite a few things into question.

Of course this date, which up until today officially belonged to the now delayed The Amazing Spider-Man 3, should resonate deeply with fans of the MCU.  This was the date that many of us expected the Avengers 3 to show up in theaters all along, but while Marvel added dates all around this date, it remained off their calendar until today. Of course this may not be Avengers 3, but it sure seems like a best fit for it given what we know (which is honestly very little).

If this May 4, 2018 date does belong to the Avengers 3, we'll see a Phase 3 made of 7 films:

July 17, 2015: Ant-Man
May 6, 2016: Captain America 3
July 8, 2016:  Unknown Marvel Film (widely believed to be Doctor Strange)
May 5, 2017: Unknown Marvel Film (one of the remaining three is VERY likely to be Thor 3)
July 28, 2017: Unknown Marvel Film (one of the remaining two is VERY likely to be GotG 2)
November 3, 2017: Unknown Marvel Film (Nova/Black Panther/Captain Marvel/many more)
May 4, 2018: Avengers 3

Regardless of what movie you plug in where, it's clear now that Marvel feels fully comfortable moving ahead with 3 films per year with the properties they have in development. It's expected that we'll find out the 2016 films this weekend, but we may also get some info about some of the 2017 films as well. Stay tuned!
