Yesterday, thanks to NikkiFinke.com and The Wrap's Jeff Sneider, we got what may amount to huge news concerning the future of WB/DC's film plans following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice including some more news on who the Justice League will go up against when we see them all on screen.
The first bit of news from the NikkiFinke.com reveals Warner Bros.' potential line-up of DC films, which may be revealed at next month's SDCC '14. According to Finke's source, WB may follow up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is slated to premiere in May of 2016, with the following slate:
Shazam (July 2016)
Sandman (December 2016)
Justice League (May 2017)
Wonder Woman (July 2017)
Flash/Green Lantern Team-Up (Christmas 2017)
Man of Steel Sequel (May 2018)
Justice League is likely to bow on May 5, 2017 as earlier reported by Latino-Review's El Mayimbe and it seems that for some reason WB/DC will continue to put their films on dates already slated by Marvel Studios. An as yet unnamed Marvel film (possibly a third Thor film) is set for May 5, 2017 as well. This sort of competition does really make winners out of fans or the studios. Hopefully one studio or the other sees the light and moves their film's release dates.
With the exception of the Flash/Green Lantern Team-Up film, which seems like it could be a cool spin on the buddy cop film genre, the titles are all ones that we have known were coming, but we haven't really had any clear idea of when. Joseph Gordon Levitt signed on for the Sandman film a while back and WB/DC has been developing Shazam for a long time now. The other films on that list are common sense and, as Finke points out, many of the characters in them will cameo first in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Finke points out that things are still NOT set in stone and I think by now most people would know that when dealing with intel like this that it only represents the point in time at which it was heard and that isn't always the same as the finished product.
The other interesting news came via Jeff Sneider's Twitter. Sneider revealed a portion of a casting grid for the Justice League film and it reveals a couple of new characters that will be added to the mix:
No Martian Manhunter in JUSTICE LEAGUE? Not according to this agency grid, which lists DARKSEID as the villain... pic.twitter.com/lLwFwkXLkv

It seems despite the harsh words that writer David S. Goyer had for the Martian Manhunter recently, the alien shapeshifter may be slated to join the Justice League after all as will Max Lord, a character with some very interesting possibilities.
Sneider also pointed out that the grid listed Darkseid as the villain of the film, possibly confirming another one of Latino-Review's El Mayimbe's scoops from two years ago. While it's possible the Justice League script has undergone some rewrites since the time of El Mayimbe's story, it seems that they still plan to bring Darkseid along as the film's heavy.
