Set to begin production later this month, The Fantastic Four reboot was without an actor to portray its villain. According to Variety, that may be about to change.
Earlier this morning, I sent this tweet out to Variety's Justin Kroll:
@krolljvar Fantastic Four reboot ever land a Doom yet?Not too long ago, Kroll sent out the following:

EXCLU: Toby Kebbell offered role of Doctor Doom in FANTASTIC FOUR http://t.co/bdd74UUkHu

Kebbell was one of several young actors chasing the role, but according to Kroll no deal has been reached just yet. It's also interesting to note that Kroll mentions the reboot will follow the Ultimate Fantastic Four, which features quite a different take on the First Family.
Toby Kebbell isn't very well-known, but if you've seen Rock n' Rolla, you likely remember his scenes pretty vividly. Of course, I'm not sure it matters if any of us know what he looks like because, ultimately, he'll be behind the iconic Doom mask.
Now, as anyone who's been here knows, I'm not a big fan of this film being made. I will probably always feel that the Fantastic Four and everything they are fall in line with the cinematic universe that Marvel Studios has created. I'm just fine with the X-Men doing their own thing and just fine with Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends going their own thing. They have plenty of great things to do over there. However, the Fantastic Four and the characters associated with them, ESPECIALLY Dr. Doom would add so much to the MCU. Having said that, I know it's not happening at this point unless this reboot totally bottoms out in the next couple of months.
Time will tell, but I'm firmly in the camp that believes this film is better off not getting made.
