Captain America 3 Will Face-off with Man of Steel Sequel on May 6, 2016!

Though the writing has been on the wall, it's now all but official. Captain America 3 will be the film Marvel chooses to put into the ring against Batman vs. Superman on May 6, 2016.

I've been telling you for a month now and now The Hollywood Reporter is telling you as well: Marvel will combat the first appearance of the two biggest DC icons with the Sentinel of Liberty. With the entire creative team on board and actively working on the script, the third Captain America film is easily the furthest along in its development. With the increasingly positive word of mouth about Captain America: The Winter Solider likely to make it one of Marvel's highest grossing films, there was little doubt Marvel would run Steve Rogers back out in short order. The film is reportedly going to pick up right where the events of The Winter Soldier leave off and will also obviously continue the larger narrative that connects the MCU.

This news combined with the revelation by co-star Sebastian Stan to Newsarama that he has a 9-picture deal with Marvel Studios (it was previously believed to be 6) and the explanation by Chris Evans that he's only locked in through Avengers 3 makes me continue to believe that the death of Steve Rogers is a foregone conclusion. While it'd fit nicely into the narrative of the third Cap film, it may spill over into Avengers 3 (which I'm beginning to think may not be the ultimate Infinity showdown we're all thinking it'll be).

Looks like I'll be doing the double-feature matinee on May 6, 2016!
