X-Men: Days of Future Past Will Bring Back Toad

An original member of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Toad will be back on screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past with a different look from when we last saw him in the original X-Men.

When actor Evan Jonigkiet (Calendar Girl, The Gift) was announced as a part of the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past it was in an unnamed role, leaving fans wondering who he was and who is would be playing. Jonigkiet ended the suspense recently, however, when he divulged to MTV News at the premiere of the HBO series, Girls, that he would be taking on the role of Mortimer Toynbee, aka Toad.

Toad, played by Darth Maul Ray Park in 2000's X-Men, will look quite a bit different than he did when we first glimpsed him, according to Jonigkiet. "The aesthetics of the character are much different," said the actor, "and I'm not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that..." Fans of the comics will remember that Park's Toad bore little resemblance to the comic book character who was, especially early on, drawn as a hunch-backed lacky of Magneto's with none of the self-security of the 2000 version. It's a good bet that the different version we are going to see might resemble the one from the 1960's version of the comics.
