UPDATED: Marvel to Run Cap 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Spots During the Super Bowl

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is not one of their most well-known properties but the studio is reportedly going to introduce them to the masses during Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, February 2nd.
It was reported earlier today that Marvel was still trying to acquire a time slot during the Super Bowl and now it has been revealed that the studio intends to air what is likely a 30-second spot for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. A Captain America: The Winter Solider trailer, our second look at the film, is also set to air during the game.

Nikki Finke, previously of Deadline, confirmed the addition of the Guardians slot via her Twitter:

This is a good move by Marvel Studios and Disney. There's no one event that could get a new property out to so many people at one time. And with 6 months until the release of the film, it will give them a nice indicator of the general public's response and help them find the right direction in which to go with the film's marketing.

UPDATE:

Director James Gunn has let the world know, via Twitter, that there will be no Guardians of the Galaxy spot during the Super Bowl.
