Rumors are the only thing in circulation about the production of Josh Trank's reboot of The Fantastic Four as there have been no official announcements about the cast at this point. Today's finds Josh Gad thrown into the mix as the potential favorite for Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Josh Gad may not be the most famous guy in Hollywood, but if I'm reading this right his voice may be pretty soon. It was Gad who brought one of Disney's best original animated characters in years to life in Frozen with his voice performance as Olaf, the lovable, loyal and incredibly dim-witted snowman.
Movies.com is now reporting that Gad's name is running through the rumor mill as the favorite of the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing. It isn't entirely clear if Gad is being looked at strictly to voice The Thing or if he will also hold down the role of Ben Grimm, which I don't imagine will require much screen time. If this turns out to be true, this is the first decision about this movie that excites me. Frozen was an outstanding movie and Gad's Olaf was my favorite part. Gad has certainly made a name for himself and this may represent that as he's getting a chance to step onto a different stage.
In a tweet last night, director Josh Trank squashed yet another rumor:
@devincf first i'm hearing of this... it's not true.

So, that puts me back to zero things about this film that I think are good ideas. At this point, I feel like Fox is messing with Marvel and is set to ruin the property.
