While it comes as no great shock (or even a little one) given the fact that he was the one to break the news of the film to the world, it seems as though it is official that Bryan Singer has signed on to direct the next installment in the X-film franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse. That much was confirmed today over at Vulture, but the website had one other little nugget of information that is sure to further fuel speculation about the film that started with last week's rumor from.
According to the site, X-Men: Apocalypse will indeed be a direct sequel to the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, confirming last week's report. The site goes on to report that the ending of X-Men: Days of Future Past will set up X-Men: Apocalypse and that the X-Men: First Class cast will be to focus of the film. The rumors from last week, which I've only briefly mentioned on this site for hopes that they are not true, seem to have a little substance to them with this report and it does back-up my speculation that FOX will want to focus on the First Class cast going forward. While James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are wonderful young actors, FOX does have Jennifer Lawrence, whose star will continue to rise, as a part of its young cast as well, so it is sensible to follow the stories of this crew going forward.
