According to Lynch's source, however, this version is going to come with a little twist: Thawne will be working for Central City PD. The report says that Detective Eddie Thawne will appear in the pilot episode and describes him as "leading man handsome (late 20s-early/mid 30s)" and "his past will be a complete mystery. No one knows where he comes from and he "harbors a dark secret."
No debate existed over the eventual appearance of Thawne in The Flash series; Barry Allen already described him when he detailed his mother's murder during his first appearance on Arrow. What is surprising, however, is the character description which allows for Thawne, at least initially, to be working with Barry.
As a comic fan, dramatic irony will be in full effect if this turns out to be a true story. I'm curious to see exactly what route this follows, but the CW seems to be blazing their own trail here with the Flash, changing some details and bringing in a very diverse cast. While I have grown to love Arrow, I'm not giving the CW a free pass on The Flash until I've seen a season of it. I have high hopes now, especially compared to when I first heard it was happening, but Arrow makes exactly one CW show I have ever liked. At any rate, having Thawne on board promises some mind-bending time travel and physics in store and I'll enjoy that just fine!
