Gal Gadot Will Portray Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman

Today, Batman vs. Superman director, Zack Snyder, and Warner Bros. confirmed that the rumors of Wonder Woman making her big screen debut in the Man of Steel follow-up were true when they announced the casting of Gal Gadot as the warrior-princess of the Amazons.

Snyder had the following to say about Gadot, best known for her role in the Fast and Furious franchise, has long been rumored to be on the front runners for the role of Diana:
"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of the beloved character."

Gadot tweeted the following in response to the news that she has landed the coveted role:

Clearly Gadot gives away a main plot point of the film: there will be a scantily clad army of Wonder Woman clones, called the Wonder Women, who take over Metropolis.

With only 10 film credits to her name, Gadot certainly has not had an illustrious film career. She does, however, have a very unique look that will make Wonder Woman very distinctive to audiences.  She's pretty slender and angular and nowhere near as muscular as the current New 52 Wonder Woman; however, I'm sure a little training, even for a couple of months, can remedy that a bit. A former model, the Israeli actress served 2 years in the Israeli Defense Forces as a sports trainer, so it seems the physicality associated with the role will not be an issue.

This is a huge announcement for DC/WB and reveals a bit of their plan moving forward. The news confirms the following tweet from film producer Daniel Alter:
While Alter is not working on the Man of Steel sequel, it's likely that he's heard quite a few things about the film given his role with Warners. With that in mind, here are some other Tweets of his from recent days:

It'll be interesting to see the other additions to cast over the next month or so as the film is set to begin shooting very early in 2014.  What do you fans think about the inclusion of Wonder Woman and the casting of Gadot? With Wonder Woman in the film, DC's iconic triumvirate of characters is now complete.
