Netflix to Produce Original Daredevil Series, Follow with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and The Defenders!

In an announcement I will have MUCH more to say about later today, Marvel Studios has struck a deal with Netflix to produce 13 episodes each for 4 different original series: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.  Following those series, Netflix will produce a mini-series event: The Defenders!  This solidifies rumors we first head in mid-October about the company having feelers out to develop 4 dramas and a mini-series.

This is absolutely amazing news. I've been on the Daredevil-to-TV soap box for a long time and while I was pretty confident that Iron Fist would eventually be on the big screen, I'm thrilled to see him join the MCU (he may still see a feature film in the future).  Marvel has been developing the Jessica Jones series for quite some time and, apparently, just looking for the right fit as far as how to distribute it.

I'll be back with some serious Brain Splatter on this later, but for now, since I'm at my day job, I'm just going to rejoice and you guys can go read this, which details my thoughts on why these guys are RIGHT for TV. and this piece about how Marvel would be adding The Defenders to their line-up.
