Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Further Its MCU Connections Prior to Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Brain Splatter readers will recall that, over the past couple of weeks, some rumors have been making the rounds that Marvel's first live-action TV show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., would evolve consubstantially with the MCU films.  Those rumors proved true when it was revealed last week that the November 19 episode of the show, The Well, would deal directly with the aftermath of Thor: The Dark World. In both linked articles, I speculated that given a 22-episode season and only one other Marvel movie falling in that time frame, it made solid sense to think that the show would tie directly into Captain America: The Winter Soldier before it hits theaters on April 4, 2014.

According to Comicbook.com, it seems that the show will do just that. Their source has informed them that the last episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be setting up "the S.H.I.E.L.D." of the Cap sequel. Given the fact that this week's episode seems to hint at some deception going on within the organization, it's not surprising that we might see the slow decay of the organization's integrity over the course of the season.  Tying this show, which is coming under fire, into the events of these films is bold strategy by Marvel. We'll see how it pays off!
