In an exclusive interview with Crave Online, Frank Grillo, who will play Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, talks about the film and his character's future in the MCU.
Fans of the comics were thrilled when they learned that Frank Grillo was cast as Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. There was a bit of confusion when our first look at the film's trailer showed Rumlow working side by side with Cap, but that was quickly remedied later when we saw the much-discussed elevator fight scene. While we aren't quite sure exactly what role Rumlow will play in the film, we can be sure he's not one of the good guys. Avid readers have a good idea what to expect, however, and part of that expectation is that we will see Rumlow put on his infamous mask, something Grillo has teased in the past, and be a pain in Cap's side for a LONG time, something he discussed with Crave.
Grillo told Crave that the Cap sequel is, "an origin film. You meet people who are going to be around for a while, so they introduce the characters. It's almost like it's a series. It's fun. I can't say very much about it because Marvel's very strict about what you're allowed to say." When pushed by Crave about Rumlow becoming Crossbones, Grillo only replied, "I can't say any of that because they will fire me." In other words, we will see the mask at some point! Despite not wanting to give too much away about the Cap sequel, Grillo did go on to say that there are future plans for Crossbones. "We'll see what happens," he said, "We'll see if fans respond to Brock and how it goes."
I, for one, expect the events of the Winter Soldier to have big ramifications not just on Avengers: Age of Ultron, but on the third Cap film and future MCU films as well. Crossbones has some big dealings in the comics and I imagine he'll stay true to some of them. He's extremely loyal to one particular villain and I don't think we've seen the end of that guy just yet. What are your thoughts?
