What's New (September 17):
I caught World War Z while it was in theaters and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has an intense opening and I liked the rest of the story as Brad Pitt's character circles the globe as it is being over run by zombies while he looks for the key to stopping them. It's a little bit of 28 Days Later and a little bit of Contagion. It's definitely worth a viewing. You can also snag it on digital download here: World War Z (Unrated).
Arrow: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray]
I'm on record as having been a hater for the first 3-5 episodes of Arrow as I thought it was just a little too soap opera for my expectations of a superhero series. Fortunately, I kept watching and by the end of the year I was actually looking forward to the next episode and now, especially with the introduction of The Flash into the mix, I'm very excited about the possibilities of Season 2. If you haven't seen it yet it's worth a shot as long as you can sit through some painful exposition in the first few episodes.
Bates Motel: Season One [Blu-ray]
I'm thankful to A & E for putting this out there. It is an extraordinarily weird series but that is exactly what it should be given the fact it's explaining just why Norman Bates dresses up as an old lady and murders lots of people when he grows up.
What's Next (September 24):
Looking ahead to next week there are quite a few good releases on the docket. Go ahead and click the titles and pre-order your copies.
Iron Man 3 (Three-Disc Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD + Digital Copy)
I'll give my thoughts on it next week. It's also available RIGHT NOW on Amazon Instant Video here: Iron Man 3 (plus bonus features) [HD]
V/H/S/2 [DVD+Blu-ray+VHS Tape]
This is a follow-up to the unexpected hit V/H/S. It's got a cute little gimmick as it actually comes with a VHS tape!
This NBC show certainly pushed the limits of what can be done of network TV. More thoughts next week!
