In a move that is bound to be met with fanboy thrills, AMC announced that they have begun work on a "companion" series to TVs number one show (in the 18-49 demo, but who's counting): The Walking Dead.
Basically the same crew that is in charge of TWD will write and produce the new series, slated to hit your 4K TV in 2015. Robert Kirkman, who has been writing the comic version since 2003, will be in charge of writing the show which he says is thrilled to "create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe."
This is an win-win for AMC, which continues to put out quality after quality and has already shown their willingness to piggy back off of successful shows (they are already developing a Breaking Bad spinoff). I love TWD...a LOT! I remember watching the first episode and being legitimately freaked out by it and loving the amount of gore they threw in. In some ways, The Walking Dead has set the tone for what is and isn't ok on TV these days. More of it can only be a good thing!!
Season 4 of The Walking Dead starts October 13 on AMC!!
