The Rock Has Less Competition for Luke Cage

I've gone on record saying that I think the Rock is THE actor that Marvel Studios needs to cast as Luke Cage, aka Power Man when the eventual and inevitable time comes for him to join the MCU.  Afterall, IF Danny Rand is going to be in the MCU then Luke Cage cannot be far behind.

A few other actors always have their names tossed into the mix to portray Cage, one of which is the super-jacked Terry Crews of The Expendables fame.  While interviewing with Blackfilm.com and promoting Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs 2, in which he is voicing one of the characters, Crews removed himself from contention to play the Harlem Hero for Hire.  When asked about the potential for playing Cage, Crews responded:

"Well, first of all, I'm trying to take myself outta that running.  Because everybody's like, 'I want to play this superhero character, that superhero character. I'd rather make up my own...I think everybody is forcing this Power Man, Luke Cage thing."  Crews goes on to address the fact that Marvel has not put an African-American, or African (T'Challa) hero front and center in their films, something which I addressed HERE a while back and that is perplexing to me as well.

While Crews is great at what he does, I've never seen him as Luke Cage in my mind.  I still firmly believe that Dwayne Johnson is the man for the job and that adding him to the MCU to put boots to a**#$ as Power Man will only serve to put more a**#$ in seats, just ask G.I. Joe and Fast and the Furious!  So, with Crews out of contention, that's one less guy standing in the way of the Rock.
