Just last week the Googleverse was going bonkers after Katee Sackhoff indicated that the people at Marvel checked for her availability in the beginning of 2014 as everyone, including me, beleived this to be an indication that she was going to be the MCU's Ms. Marvel. This week, in an interview with Crave Online, Sackhoff did her best to make us believe that we just made it all up.
I will explain, no, there is too much, let me sum up:
When asked about the rumors Sackhoff insisted that she never said Disney/Marvel were the ones checking for availability...despite bringing it up when asked about Marvel in the original interview, before realizing she ought to back off.
She then goes on to point out she has never spoken with Marvel...though her people have and that she has a movie right now and that she isn't really sure that Ms. Marvel is even in the next movie.
See, I like to read between the lines and here is what I took away:
Sackhoff's people have been/are in negotiations. Ms. Marvel is on the way to the MCU, likely as a cameo at first.
This is how the world works in 2013. She didn't say much in the original interview that started this fiasco, but she said just enough. Her reaction, at the time, and the care with which she is speaking now are really just throwing gas on the fire for those of us who have been around this for a while and know how it goes. Will she be Ms. Marvel? Maybe, maybe not...that's negotiations. Will Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers show up in the MCU? Yup.
