Not too long ago, in the wake of the release of Marvel's newest One Shot: Agent Carter, Marvel co-president, Louis D'Esposito, told us we had not seen the last of Hayley Atwell's spunky Peggy Carter...and almost no one complained about having to see more of Hayley Atwell. Deadline is reporting, as a follow up to that comment from D'Esposito, that Marvel Studios is in the preliminary stages of developing a TV series as the vehicle in which to deliver more Agent Carter to the masses. Typically, for those of you who don't know, Deadline is not in the business of reporting garbage, so this is almost certainly the real deal and very exciting.
The same report mentions that it is one of several shows that Marvel is in the midst of developing. While there is no mention of what they are, I almost don't care. Whatever they are they won't all make it to the tube and Marvel is developing stuff CONSTANTLY. What's important to me is that Marvel is looking at creative ways to build the depth of their shared universe. The Agent Carter series, for example, would likely take place right after the One Shot, giving fans a look at the history and development of S.H.I.E.L.D. and would serve as a sweet parallel to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series that debuts in just a few days. This type of stuff just continues to build the hype for Marvel Studios and is why they have been and likely will be so successful. Gold foil star!
